Positive stress works for us

Here is an example of positive stress:

Emma in a swimming race

Before a race Emma feels like there are a bunch of butterflies in her stomach, her palms get sweaty, she can feel her heart pounding and even hear it!

These changes work for Emma because they help to prepare her body for the race by giving her that boost of energy to run the race and do her best

Worksheet – Me and positive stress

What to do: Draw a cartoon to show how positive stress worked for you. You’ll need to choose a particular situation or event that caused you to have positive stress.

  • What was the SITUATION?
  • What did you DO?
  • How did you FEEL?
  • What were you THINKING?

Here are some ideas for different ways to record your story.

  • write about it,
  • draw one scene that tells it all,
  • design a cartoon strip,
  • make a collage of magazine cut outs
